The library card is free for all residents of New Brunswick. You can request a library card online. During your first library visit, you must present proof of identity that includes your current address in order to activate your card. A parent or guardian's signature is necessary for children under the age of 13 years.


The New Brunswick Public Library Service provides access to a provincial collection of more than 1.8 million items, as well as to programs and services ranging from story hour to public lectures to services such as reference, Inter-Library loan and public access workstations. These programs and services are designed to respond to the educational, informational, cultural and recreational needs of residents of the province. The library system supports economic and social development and promotes self-reliance by providing opportunities for New Brunswickers to enhance their knowledge and their creative capabilities.
